Peter Vogel

Whether speaking to 1 child or ten thousand youth during my first trip to Uganda East Africa, almost 10 years ago, I knew I wanted to become part of a people and a culture. I always have had an image of playing a role in building stronger communities through cooperative cross cultural relationships. “On Uganda” has helped me and others to make this a reality.

Working both with Americans and Ugandans, together we have seen communities benefited through projects such as; AIDS Education, Providing Food/Clothing, Spiritual Formation, Funding/Development of Small Businesses and the Youth Vocation Center.

As a way to show my appreciation to the Ugandans for all of their hospitality over the years, I am looking forward to hosting a meal with “CultureCakes.” Muslims, Christians, young, old and various tribes will come together for a community celebration and the dedication of the Youth Vocation Center.

Despite many of the barriers that exist in the transformation of people and communities, I am encouraged by a shared passion and commitment of the “On Uganda” team as we take even greater risks together in deepening our relationships with others and addressing practical needs.

Greetings! My name is Joe Petrovic. I am 19 years old, born and raised in Idaho Springs Colorado. I really enjoy living in the mountains, and being outdoors. I have been a competitive bodybuilder for 3 years now, and am proud to say that my friend, the founder of the On Uganda team, is my training partner. I am very thankful to know Jesus Christ as my savior. I also enjoy going to church to worship. This will be my first trip to Uganda, but I am looking forward to bringing everything I have to this team to help the people of Uganda in any and everyway I can.

Tawnya Rush

My dreams of traveling to Africa actually started when I was young. I remember looking through National Geographic Magazines and being so drawn to a continent rich in culture, beauty and spirit. Going to Africa has always been on my top “5” list of things I must do! I feel very blessed that I have this opportunity to serve with the “On Uganda” team and that my dream is now becoming a reality.

I hope to get things really “cooking” with my first adventure to Africa by sharing my “Meals in a Rush” with the locals! I’m excited to dish out some of my recipes that come straight from my upbringing on a farm in Thermopolis, Wyoming. I also can’t wait to learn about some of the traditional recipes that the ladies of Uganda prepare. Food to me is the common thread that can bring people together regardless of one’s background, religion or race.

Currently “Meals in a Rush” is seen regularly in Denver on KUSA’s Colorado and Company and other television stations including; Phoenix, Atlanta and Little Rock.
